My husband and I have been attending Super Bowl parties for almost as long as we’ve been married. These parties have always been something we all look forward to.
For my husband, it’s about the game. For me and the kids, it’s all about the food and the hanging out with friends. And this year I’ll have a shirt to prove it.

Game Day shirt supplies
T-shirt or Sweatshirt Blank
Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)
Funny Football SVG (download below)
Silhouette Cameo or Cricut
There are many things you can do with this FREE Super Bowl SVG but today, lets make a shirt. All the supplies you need are listed above so let’s get started!
Step 1: After downloading your funny football SVG, open it up in your Silhouette Studio software.
To open you need to go to File > Open > and select your design from the location you saved it to on your computer. NOTE: If your version of Silhouette Studio does not allow for SVGs, let me know and I’ll get your a file type you can use.
Step 2: Resize your SVG to the size that you need according to the size shirt you will be using.
Step 3: Now you’re ready to cut. Don’t forget to mirror your image BEFORE you send to cut AND make sure you select the proper material (HTV) and adjust the cut settings (if you use the ratchet blade like me). Also, the shiny side of the heat transfer vinyl (the carrier sheet side) should be face down on your cutting mat.
Whenever I’m working with HTV I always put a rectangle around my design before cutting it out on my Cameo. This helps with the weeding process so that you are weeding within a smaller area vs weeding the entire sheet. Make sense? You can add this rectangle yourself by using the shape tool in Silhouette Studio.
Step 4: Weeding. With your weeding tools (or you can use a stick pin if you don’t have any weeding tools) start removing the excess HTV from around your design. You want to do this nice and slow to make sure your vinyl doesn’t tear.
To make things easier, try leaving your design on your cutting mat while you weed. Once you have the area around your design weeded, work on the inner parts of the design (i.e. letters, shapes, etc.)
Step 5: Applying Design to Shirt A rule of thumb when it comes to placing your design on the shirt is leaving about 3 inches from the top of your design to the neckline of your t-shirt. Once you have the design placed where you want it, it’s time to press it.
I don’t have any fancy equipment at home so my regular clothing iron is what I have to work with. I always read package instructions for how to press my design. Some instructions want you to press right on top of the carrier sheet. Some tell you to put a cloth or parchment paper over the design and then press. So, read those instructions and make sure you put a lot of pressure into ironing the design on.
