I started decorating for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving and it really didn’t take very long because I don’t have too much stuff to put out. My ornament collection is sorely lacking. I’ve had little kids in my house for the last 11 years and I’ve learned rather quickly that anything worth having needs to wait. I love my kids but boy are they little monkeys who love to touch everything! My youngest is 3 and a half and is doing pretty good this year with the decorations so I decided to add a few more than usual.

Simple and pretty Christmas decor that even your kids can't ruin! Faux gifts and crates are perfect for the home that has little ones running around during the holidays.

I did most of my Christmas shopping online this year and that includes these simple and pretty decorations you see pictured above. Now you’ll probably be a little surprised when I tell you where I got my goodies. I won’t make you guess though. I’ll just come right out and tell you that I got them at Staples. I have to admit I’ve always shopped at Staples for my home office needs; ink, paper, school supplies, etc. but never for home decor items. I was pleasantly surprised when I was browsing their website and found those adorable chipped wood boxes with the chalkboard front. The second I saw them I knew I wanted to add them to my Christmas decor collection.

I love the look of wrapped gifts under the tree but ummmm…….real gifts would NEVER survive a day in my house under the tree so I decided to pick up some kraft paper while shopping the Staples website and burlap ribbon to create some faux gifts. It would fill my need of wanting wrapped gifts around the house but wouldn’t stress me out completely if someone who will remain nameless Kole gets into them. I absolutely love what this little project has done for my Christmas decor. The chipped paint boxes came packaged as a set so the bigger one was ideal for popping some gifts in to display and the smaller one was perfect for a handful of the shatter-proof ornaments!

Not only are these decorations so stinkin cute but they were super easy to pull off. I used bistro markers to write on the chalkboards. One will serve as a Christmas countdown and the other is just a fun little holiday saying that everyone knows! I just love, love, love how it came out!

Shopping the Staples website was a breeze. I got my order quickly. There is still 9 days left until Christmas so if you want to pull this look off as well, you still have time! For more lovely Christmas inspiration search your favorite social media channels using #HandmadeHolidays.

This post is sponsored by Staples and I was compensated to write it. The project idea and opinions are entirely my own. As a side note – we went into the Staples near our home to do a little shopping and the sales associates were very helpful and accommodating. At a busy time of year where things could get stressful and crazy, we had amazing service.
