Red, White and Blue Drink

Red White and Blue drink

Memorial Day is coming up and how much fun would it be to serve these cool red, white and blue drinks to your guests? Heck, even if you aren’t hosting a BBQ, I’m sure your family would go nuts keeping it for themselves. I first saw this idea last year and thought it was the coolest thing. I made some for my kids then and decided to whip them up again just for fun now.
The trick to getting the colors to stack up is the sugar content. You start with a super sugary drink for the bottom red layer. I used red Minute Maid fruit punch (29g Sugar) for the bottom layer, blue Gatorade (21g sugar) for the middle layer and store brand clear sparkling water (zero sugar) for the top layer. You will want to fill your cup up about 1/3 of the way with ice and pour your red layer. Don’t let it cover the ice completely though. Leave about an inch of ice uncovered. Then add more ice and pour your blue layer the same way (leaving about an inch of ice uncovered). Finally fill the rest of your glass with ice and add your last “white” layer. Be sure to pour each layer slowly. Serve immediately.
