Monogrammed Canvas

A few months ago I had the pleasure of trying out a beautiful stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils. I have never worked with stencils before and really didn’t know what to expect. I decided to start out small (although I did entertain the idea of doing a stenciled wall somewhere in my house but totally chickened out!) and used a large canvas that I had picked up at my local craft store.
Cutting Edge Stencils has great video tutorials to help get you started, especially if you are beginner like me. I watched one first before I got started and I’m glad I did because it had some helpful tips.
The stencil that I chose was the Casablanca Craft Stencil. I have always liked the quatrefoil pattern so this was perfect.
After I painted my canvas with the stencil (I used just regular craft paint and a roller to paint it and it worked just fine) I cut the letter “M” out of contact paper using my cutting machine to create a monogram stencil and painted it right on top of the pattern.

I’m totally diggin how it came out. It really was so easy and I definitely plan on using it again.
I’m excited to let you know that Cutting Edge Stencils is giving away a stencil of your choice up to $50 in value to one lucky reader (US Residents Only).

  2. Oh MY GOODNESS! This post has completely INSPIRED me!! I am a renter, and get so sad when I see the beautiful wall treatments that can completely transform a room because I am not allowed to paint and hanging pictures is discouraged. Well, after looking at the Cutting Edge website a lightbulb moment happened!! My laundry room/large pantry is painted cream. No color. I am going to attempt to use my ASCP on contact paper and line the back walls of the pantry shelving to give the large POP of color and inspiring design! Oh, I pray this works! The stencil of choice is Zagora Craft Stencil! I love the complementing patterns. I want to use one of each design on the walls of each shelf! This could turn out to be AMAZING! Do you think ASCP stenciled on contact paper will work?

  5. Gosh, any damask stencil is fabulous. If I didn’t want to be weird, every room in my home would have some sort of damask in it.
