It’s time for our weekly linky party, Just Something I Whipped Up! Can’t wait to see what you all have been busy creating. Real quick though - I issued a challenge on my Facebook page this weekend. It’s called The 3 to 8 Challenge. Basically this means that from the time your kids come home from school until the time they go to bed, you are doing to disconnect. You are going to turn your laptops, iPads, tablets, Nooks, Kindles, etc. (basically anything that distracts you from giving your kids/husbands 100% of your attention) off and you will focus on your kids. This challenge stems from an amazing article that I read over at Hands Free Mama this past week. I did it this week and let me tell you, it was such an amazing feeling.
God had been putting this on my heart for such a long time but I’ve resisted. What really got my attention was how fast time goes by. Kole just turned 9 months old and I honestly don’t know where the time has gone. I’ve missed out on some simple every day things with my kids because I’ve been wrapped up in blogging and wasting time online. That little tug on my heart coupled with the article I referenced earlier and I’ve finally begun to do something about this. So, if anyone would like to take this challenge with me, I’d love for you to join me. There is nothing you need to do to participate on my end, just purpose in your heart to “disconnect”. :)
Have a great week everyone!!!!

That is such an amazing idea! I do not have any kids yet, but all the more reason to spend that time with my husband! Thank you for the inspiration, sometimes I need a bit of a shove in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely idea, my hubby and I were talking about the same thing. There are to many un-important things which distract us from our loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting. I am going to give it a go this week. I try to do that already but often find some sort of excuse to hop back on the computer. Thank you for the challenge and for reminding me how important it really is to have our kids and husbands KNOW that they are the most important thing no matter what!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great challenge! I don't *feel* like I'm on the computer that much during that time...but if I really pay attention to it, I may surprise myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling very much the same way. Granted my kids are older, one has graduated high school the other is in 8th grade. I feel like I look up and the year has gone. It's a daily struggle to find time for it all, full time job, Etsy, shop, my blog, crafting and creating jewelry, and finding time for my family and home.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and what a great challenge! Time does fly way too fast!
ReplyDeleteI am so in on this challenge! Thanks for telling us about it! My kiddos will love you for it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting :)
ReplyDeletethat article sounds interesting I'll have to check it out. thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting. We purposely don't have very many electronic devices at our house...but I'm certainly guilty of spending more time browsing blogs or wasting time online. I have two little ones at home with me, so I'll need to think of what times would be the best to set...The hours of 3-8 is probably not enough hours for the time I should spend off-line, but thanks for putting the thought there. I should disconnect from the computer more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for having the linky party. I love seeing everyone's handywork!
ReplyDeleteYou cannot imagine how happy this makes me! I am honored to be mentioned as part of the inspiration behind your 3 - 8 challenge to unplug and be with those who matter most! I agree. i do a sneaky check of FB on my phone but that's it. Then again, we don't have internet at home, I have no ipod, no ipad, just my phone.
ReplyDeleteBut I also work fulltime so after school time is precious. We make crafts, bake stuff, dance, play games.... all inbetween me cramming clothes into the washing machine or wiping down the bathroom.
I came across your blog from your guest post at southern lovely and 1. thanks for the tips, they are great and 2. I'm so glad that I found your blog! unfortunately I think we all need to be reminded to "unplug" every now and then! I look forward to linking up to your next party!
