Braided Little Girl’s Dress…

Hi everyone, I am so excited to be here at The Girl Creative! I have been a fan for some time now, and when the opportunity popped up to be a regular contributor my hand went WAY up…and I waived it back and forth hopping impatiently in and out of my chair – lol.

My name is Jessica, I run a little blog called Me Sew Crazy, and I LOVE to sew (and paint, and redecorate, and upcycle, and refurbish, but let’s just say MOSTLY sew). As many of you have families of your own, you know what it means to have something for yourself – not as a Mommy or Wife – but something that is just Yours. That is what my blog does for me, it gives me something of my own, and I love it! My world outside of the chaos, where I can create beautiful things and share them with the world.

So what am I sharing with the world today?

I give you the Braided Little Girl’s Dress

After playing with braids a week or so go, coming up with the Braided Weave Belt, I had the itch and knew I wanted to try to incorporate braids into clothing somehow.

I feel like this dress is part boho-chic, part dress up, and part laid back Summer, but 100% little girl fun! Not only am I thrilled with how this first attempt came out, I want to share with you how I did it!

For the tutorial to make your very own Braided Dress click HERE. Click HERE for pattern sizes are included for 2T thru 5T.

That’s my eldest daughter having fun in it, you will be seeing a lot of her :).

I hope you enjoy, and I look forward to seeing you all again next Tuesday!

Happy Sewing everyone!

  1. Very cute. I’ve added braiding or single stitch finger crochet around necklines before, but nothing where the braiding became straps, this is a wonderful and very creative project. Thank you.

  7. Could you send more detailed instructions on getting the braids to roll before braiding them together? I think the dress is so cute.

I have only found this on http://www.persnicketyclothing.com/ but now I have found it on this blog. I absolutely love this idea of braiding little girls cloths and making them look all cute and pretty!!

  9. Hello,
This dress is very beautiful! I’ll try to make it! I can not open the page for the pattern pieces. It marks “error”. Is that you could send me the pattern so I can make this dress please?

    1. Hi Camille! I checked out the links and everything opens fine on my end. What browser are you using? Sometimes that will affect things. Also, the files are PDFs. Make sure you have a program on your computer that can open those types of files. 🙂

      1. Thank you for your reply. I have the software to open the PDF but it strikes me “error 404”. Is it possible that you send me the PDF file directly by mail on my e-mail address? This dress is really beautiful, I’d love to do it!

      2. That’s it! I arrived! Thank you!!

  10. I love this dress! I made one for my daughter. I’d like to make some to sell. Since it’s a free pattern, do I need your permission, or…?

    1. Hi Shelley! I’m so glad you like the dress. This pattern was created by a former contributor of mine, Jessica from Me Sew Crazy. I’m pretty sure all of her patterns are for personal use only since so much time goes into creating them. I gave her your email address. You should be hearing from her shortly. Please don’t sell anything until you hear from her. 🙂 I’d love to see the dress you made. Feel free to share it on my Facebook page. 🙂 XO

    1. Thank you so much for letting me know that!! I just updated the link. 🙂
