Okay, so after all of my whining and complaining yesterday about not being able to finish my little ruffle project guess what I managed to do? Yup. Finish my project. 🙂
I’ve been seeing some embellished dish towels around lately and with all intentions of making them right away, I picked up some plain white bar cloths. Note to self: bar cloths are not the same size as regular dish towels. They are actually kind of square-ish. No matter really though, they worked out fine.
Anyhow…..I picked up some fabric also and just really wanted to add a border to the bottom of my towels to pretty them up a bit when I had the idea to add some ruffles instead. And to my delight, it really was pretty simple. My little ruffle issue with the thread breaking yesterday was really a result of operator error. Duh! Would help if I actually read my sewing machine manual. Turns out I had the “thing-y” too tight. Pardon my lack of proper sewing lingo – I really have no idea what I’m talking about half the time!
So, here are my piddly little supplies:
All I did was take my pinking shears and trimmed a strip of fabric off of a big piece I had. Is that what everyone else does to keep it from fraying in the wash? I was too lazy to actually go back and find a tutorial on ruffling but I figured I would try that and see how it goes.
And here’s my beautiful picture of my fabric in all it’s ruffley splendor:
As always I’ll be linking up to my favorite linky parties!
