Ribbon Necklace

Hello Girl Creative followers.  It’s Amy and I am so thrilled to be here today sharing my first guest contributing post!  I share all kinds of projects that make my heart go pitter patter at Delineate Your Dwelling.  Today, I will be sharing how to make a lovely Ribbon Necklace!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

. Polymer Clay

. Wide Decorative Ribbon + Narrow Ribbon (Bakers Twine is what I used)

. Jewelry Rings

. Jewelry 2″ Eye Pins

2 supplies

I read the directions for my polymer clay and preheated the oven.  My clay took 30 minutes to bake at 275F.  Then, I started rolling small balls that would become my beads.  I decided on a basic layout of the beads and cut my ribbon to the length I thought would be ideal for this necklace.

Do not forget to put small holes in your beads BEFORE baking!

Once, my beads were done in the oven I got to work on stringing them onto the 2″ eye pins. You fish the eye pins through so that the straight end is at the bottom.  I then using small small jewelry pliers to bend the ends into tiny circles to keep the beads from falling off.

Once my beads were all on the baker’s twine, I tied my wider ribbon and the baker’s twine to the jewelry rings to form the actual necklace.

I love the simple ribbon tie in the back.

This entire project took me an hour and a half total and that included bake time!

    1. I admit, I’ve made two more since this one! I’m hooked. Thanks for having me be a part of your team!

  2. These are super cute! I’m wondering – are they heavy??

    1. Thanks for checking, Emily. No the beads were quite light-weight. Maybe if you had double the quantity it would start to feel heavy.
