Painting with Yarn Blocks

IMG_3433e

Greetings! I’m Linda from Night Owl Corner and I’m excited to be here today to share an easy and fun kids craft! I do a lot of crocheting and always have random scraps of yarn left over from various projects. My husband always has pieces of wood left over from things he’s built out in his workshop. This craft puts both of these leftover items to good use!

Here are all the supplies you’ll need:

  • Yarn
  • Small wooden blocks
  • Hot glue
  • Washable paint
  • Foam brush
  • Paper

Wrap a few small blocks of wood in various sizes with yarn. Twist the yarn in all directions so you get different lines and textures. When you reach the end of your yarn secure it to the wood block with a small dab of hot glue.

Next apply washable paint to the yarn block using a foam brush. Spread evenly until the yarn is coated well. Then stamp your block onto the paper to make prints.

My almost 4 year old daughter loved this craft and it kept her busy for 30 minutes or more! Here are a couple of the creations she made:

I’ll see you again next month…same time, same place! In the meantime, I would love for you to keep in touch at the social media links below!
