Whew! Talk about a crafting slump! I take a few days off to do some laundry and now I feel like “i got nothing”. Not sure if it’s the winter blues or the fact that I have like no supplies but either way, I’m kind of running out of steam. And you know it’s bad when you can only come up with bookmarks! lol So, like the title of my post, it’s nothing spectacular but it’s something!
My daughter’s school is doing this program called P.A.R.P. (Parents as Reading Partners). It’s a 4 week long program where parents have to read to their kids 5 out of 7 nights a week for the 3 out of the 4 weeks that the program is running. For 15 minutes a night. Each week a booklet goes back to the teacher that we fill out showing what we’ve done for that week. At the end of the program, the school is having an awards ceremony for those that completed it.
Thinking that my daughter’s kindergarten class might like some bookmarks, I got to work on these:
I found the cute picture of 2 kids holding a stack of books by searching Google images. I added the words “Reading is Fun” and printed them out (4 on a page). Then I took some of my Amy Butler scrapbook paper and cut it down a bit bigger than the white paper. Of course I distressed both the white paper and scrapbook paper for my own personal benefit (I’m pretty sure the Kindergarteners will think it’s dirt! lol). Next I used double sided tape to tape the 2 together, punched a hole up top and used a scrap of paper for the little whoop-dee-doo up top.
Nothing spectacular, but it’s something.
Next week we’ll be kicking off our first blog swap so keep your eyes opened for that post on Wednesday. Don’t forget to link up on Monday with your latest creations at our “Just Something I Whipped Up” link party. I need some inspiration!
XOXO
