Just Something I Whipped Up & Linky Party Etiquette
Happy One Week from Valentine’s Day!! How lucky are we that V-Day falls on a Monday so…….OBVIOUSLY next Monday will be a Valentine’s Day Linky Party. Woot Woot!!
Before we get started I just wanted to let everyone know that I have openings in my blog design schedule in the month of February if anyone is in need of a little bloggy makeover. Please shoot me an email and let me know. Would love to help you beauitfy your blog. 🙂
Over recent months the topic of linky party etiquette has come up. Do I really need to add your party link to each post I link up? Isn’t a party page good enough?? Is it okay if I just have your button somewhere on my blog homepage? Here is MY take on it but just let it be known that each blogger is DIFFERENT.
- If you link up a project to a particular blog, please be sure to read THAT blogger’s party rules or guidelines.
- Make nicey nice and follow those rules. 🙂
- Most parties now use thumbnail links as opposed to plain text. Those link parties are NOT free to host anymore. Linky Tools and Inlinkz both charge a membership fee and those fees come out of our pockets.
- If you don’t like the rules of a particular blog party, don’t participate. I TOTALLY get that it’s a pain in the butt sometimes to add a button to each post especially when its an older post. I’m guilty of just not linking up to some of those because I just don’t have the time. And that’s OKAY! You don’t have to link up to every single party. There are so many of them now so just link up to the ones that you can follow the rules of.
- Please don’t ignore the whole post and skip right to linking up. Take time to read it. Many times there is giveaway information in there or an important piece of information relating to that particular party (i.e. themes, special instructions, etc.) and bloggers are so anxious to link up that that forget to even read and then don’t even follow the rules. Believe me, it takes a lot of time to add all of those special details to posts
Okay…..now that that’s been said, here are the rules for MY party. 🙂
- Add our party link to your homepage somewhere. I prefer that it’s not on a hidden “party page” but won’t be scouring blog after blog to make sure someone does or doesn’t do what I’m asking. But……do the right thing. 🙂
- If I’m having a special theme for my Just Something I Whipped Up party I will post it in the TITLE so there is no missing it.
- I know this is probably NOT a popular thing to say but if I’m hosting a giveaway during my Just Something I Whipped Up party and you are NOT interested in entering, please don’t leave a comment. I LOVE and APPRECIATE every single comment but I want my sponsor to feel special when they see all the comments that are left specifically for THEM and their PRIZE.
Whew! Glad that’s out of the way. Grab a button and link up!! 🙂
XOXO

Thanks for hosting & I am linked up! BTW-love your blog!
Thanks for hosting:) And thanks for sharing your views on etiquette. It’s nice to know how someone that hosts a linky feels about it!
Thank for the fun party. I hope my entry qualifies though it is not a final project- Part 1 in anticipation of the ending product of a beautiful bedroom!

Thank you for hosting! I have just been adding buttons to my “party here” page. I am going to try to put them in my sidebar. I am html deficient so making them look nice in the side bar is really a challenge for me. It is my goal to make it happen this week.
Thanks for link up party!! I always LOVE your blog!! xoxo
Thanks for hosting! all linked up with a button on my post! <3 of course!

Thanks for hosting the link-up, and for sharing your etiquette philosophy. I tend to agree, and always *try* to follow the rules, although I’ve done a text link, instead of a button by mistake a couple of times.
I do appreciate being given a choice between a text link and a button link, as text, though not as fast to link up, takes up more real estate in the post. I do believe links belong in the post — it’s just courteous. I try to put the party button on my party page, and a text link within the post. I only put a button in the post when I’m in a huge hurry or if the hostess requests it.
It’s good to hear the hostess view point on this stuff. Thanks for you honesty.

I delete that last comment because apparently I have lost the ability to spell and type lol. I just think, for me. If I link up I find it important to post the button of the lady having the party. It is just a courtesy think and a thank you!
By the way, I am about to email you about that blog makeover thing.

Great post…I so agree with ya! Thanks so much for hosting each week.
Blessings,

I should have probably clarified that I’m okay with a text link as well….as long as it’s somewhere on the homepage. If you want to put it in the post, that’s fine too. 🙂
Thanks for hosting..I appreciate it!!~
Thanks for hosting. Everyone should link up, and pay attention to the rules.
A little etiquette reminder is always a good thing! Thanks for hosting!

Thanks for hosting this link up party. I love seeing what everyone else is up to. And thanks for the etiquette reminder. I’ve wondered about the party pages.
I love your creative blog! I’m a new follower. Thanks so much for hosting. This is my first time linking up.
Thanks for hosting such a wonderful link up party! You should add “leave a comment” somewhere in the middle of your rules to see who actually reads the entire post! Happy Monday
Thank you so much for hosting! Love your blog!

Just wanted to take a second to thank you for hosting this party every week. It is so wonderful to have a few places on the web to stop by and always get inspiration and a chance to send your creations out into the world for all to enjoy. Thanks for being here!
Oh yay, i’m glad you mentioned you’re fine with text links too…i always use text links only (i’m happy to say that i never miss linking up a text link to a party that i submit to, because i feel it’s the decent thing to do). I link to quite a lot of parties, and posting all those party badges on my posts will slow my blog down tremendously! (we don’t have super fast internet here in SA like you guys do…)
Tnx for hosting! 🙂
Thanks so much for hosting! How fun. First time linking up. Appreciate the work involved. Have great day!
I TOTALLY AGREE!!! I have a link at the bottom of my post that takes you to my PARTY page. I used to add each link but there is just TOO MANY GREAT parties out there and it got way too long. I hope everyone is “cool” with that! 🙂 Thanks for hosting! 🙂
Thank you so much for the linky etiquette. When I first discovered link parties I inadvertently linked Chicken Rice Chowder to Meatless Monday and Pistachio Bundt Cake to 12 Days of Cookies. Ooops! I’m doing better now and love adding all of the cute buttons to the bottom of my posts. If the button isn’t cute, I don’t link up:)
heyya! stop by my page and link up your party on my Linky list! http://www.smallfineprint.com
Thank you for the linky party! I posted my link on here and of course I added your fabulous button on my blog- I hope you would follow me too
