Today is the 3rd Thursday of the month and that means it’s blog hop Thursday! Myself and a group of my blogging friends get together each month to create a themed collection of FREE SVG cut files for you to use with your Silhouette or Cricut

This month’s theme is Warm and Cozy quotes. We’ve been doing this for nearly 2 years now (WOW!) so maybe you’ve been along for the ride the whole time.

WHAT IS AN SVG CUT FILE?

SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphic. An SVG can also be referred to as a digital cut file. In the DIY world, digital cut files (or SVGs) are used most commonly with the Silhouette and Cricut cutting machines.

These files can be uploaded to the corresponding design software that comes with either machine and are used to cut out designs on various mediums such as vinyl, paper, cardstock, heat transfer vinyl (htv) and more.

What’s great about SVGs is that you can size them up or down and the integrity of the graphic will not be compromised.

WHERE CAN I FIND FREE FILES?

The SVG niche has exploded over the last few years. You can find FREE cut files for your Silhouette and Cricut nearly everywhere. Along with my site and shop you can find an extensive list of sites that offer free svgs right HERE.

how can i use svg cut files?

These warm and cozy SVG cut files can be used on any craft blank and with any material. If you want to make a pillow with my Let’s Snuggle by the Fire cut file, you’ll need a blank pillowcase and HTV (heat transfer vinyl) of your choice.

My favorite brand of HTV is Siser Easyweed and you can pick it up at Expressions Vinyl.

If you have fireplace in your home, you could use this free svg to make a sign for your mantle. If you go that route, you can pick up a sign blank from Michaels or Hobby Lobby and you’ll need vinyl.

My favorite brand of vinyl is Oracal 651 and you can purchase it online at Amazon.
