I’m pretty sure I never shared this before but way before I became a blogger……….and way before I was married and had kids actually, I used to LOVE playing with greeting card programs. I remember it was back in the late 90’s and I got my first PC (ya know, one with internet albeit the dreaded dial up – but that was basically it at the time) and a friend of mine showed me this greeting card program on her computer called Print Shop Deluxe. I immediately fell in love with creating my own cards and designs and posters. I had zero clue about graphic design but I liked all the different fonts that the program came with. I remember making a sign for something and I mixed some fonts and a friend of mine (who was a total computer geek) said that it was smart of me to do that with the fonts. I just figured if I was creating something with a lot of text that it would help break things up and make certain things stand out more so I used different fonts. So, I guess even way back then I had a thing for design and I guess you can say it’s something I’m passionate about because here I am almost 20 years later and I still dig design and fonts and making pretty prints!

So. I rounded up a bunch of my favorite font combinations to share with you. They are all FREE too! Boom! You want to create a contrast with your fonts but still have them blend well with each other. Chunky fonts with scripts; Funky fonts with basic fonts; Short and fat fonts with tall and skinny fonts. 95% of the time I use free fonts in my designs but when I see a great sale on a bundle of fonts, I usually go for it. FontBundles.net is a great resource if you want to get a whole mess of fonts for a fraction of the cost. You can get 40 fonts at once for just $29. That’s an incredible bargain.

Okay, onto the free goods!

  1. Fonts make me swoon! I’m a closet font-aholic….and boy do I love these fonts. I’m downloading them NOW! Thanks so much for sharing them.

  2. I am really disappointed. I can not find any way to download these fonts for free. It appears that I must buy zip utilities in order to download or allow them to take control of my browser, etc. I just found your group’s blog and am very interested in using these fonts for my own personal use. The bloggers appeared to be empowering women with a “sisterhood” society, but evidently you get kickbacks from these companies. If there is another way to download with my Chrome or Firefox browser and using my Mac unzip utility, please let me know how. Thanks for your time and I am impressed with your font selection.

    1. Hey Julie! I definitely do not get kick backs by linking to my favorite fonts. I would disclose that if I did. I’m sorry you are having a hard time downloading the free fonts. I just download them and use Windows Explorer to extract them. If you click on this link from Font Squirrel, it will give you several tutorial options that may be helpful. 🙂 http://www.fontsquirrel.com/help

  3. Hey there! Im looking for the perfect font for a design I want to make for my house, however I’m having a lot of trouble getting any fonts to work. Is there any chance you have a design for “Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas day”? I would like for it to be a few different fonts much like the one you have posted for the chalk board! If you could help me out that would be great 🙂
