End Table Re-do {Before & After}

Hi everyone!  My name is Janny and I’m visiting from Que Linda.  I’m absolutely thrilled to share my furniture makeovers with you every month and I can’t wait to mingle with you all.  Thank you Diana for giving me this chance to grow!  And just so that we get to know each other a little better, this is what I look like in real life~

(just imagine me in jeans and a t-shirt without make up and you’ve got the right picture)

This month, I want to show you this before and after of an end table I found at The Habitat Store.  The woodwork on the front is incredible and I knew that it would come to life with a vibrant coat of paint.  I also wanted to give it an antique finish to bring out the curves in the wood.
Isn’t she beautiful!

Here are the steps it took to make the transformation:

1.)  I removed the door and the hardware.  I taped off the inside of the cabinet since I didn’t want to bother with refinishing it.

2.) I scuffed up the shiny finish with some sand paper and primed both the body of the end table and the door.

3.)  Then, I spray painted them  (4-5 thin coats).

4.)  I used a glaze mixed with dark brown paint.  I painted it onto the end table and then wiped it off after letting it sit for a few minutes.  I polished the brass handle.  Then I replaced the hardware and door.  And…

Voila!
The brass handle cleaned up nicely and the glaze makes the wood work pop.

Look at the details!
This end table has so much character.  I love how it turned out!
See you next month!
