DIY succulent planter

Hey Friends, it’s Chrissy from the Pearl blog. I am excited to be back. Many of you read Kayla’s post this week about plants that are hard to kill. If you are like me you were encouraged to give real plants a try again. In the mean time I wanted to share with you a simple tutorial on how to make a DIY succulent planter (an artificial one of course). And don’t worry this project is super simple.

DIY succulent supplies needed

supplies needed:
glue gun/glue sticks
wire cutters
clay pot base (hobby lobby)
artificial moss (dollar tree)
artificial succulents (hobby lobby)
spray paint (lowes)

I first spray painted my clay pot bottom white. You could also leave it as is. Next you will need to glue the moss inside the planter. I used hot glue and just pressed it into place. This moss from the dollar store works great for so many projects. I may have bought a few extra bags for other spring projects.

to make sure your moss is secure i recommend holding your planter upside down, shaking out the excess and re-gluing where there are bare spots. Using your wire cutters clip the wire stem about 1/2 cm from the base of the plant.

DIY planter step 2

arrange the plants on the moss, glue into place. and ta-da you are finished.

I found a little plastic cheese board topper at salvation army and thought it looked super cute with my planter.

Now that I am in love with the looks with succulents, I may take Kayla’s idea and try a real one.
