Learn how to make these DIY Glitter Dipped Mason Jars in just a few minutes. Easy to follow instructions below.
The process was super simple – just the way I like my projects. I did wind up with a few paint drips from spray painting too close to the jar but now I know for next time. Here’s what you’ll need to do this project:
Glitter Dipped Mason Jars
Supply List:
Krylon Satin Finish Spray Paint in Champagne Nouveau
(you DEFINITELY want to use the Gloss finish so the glitter stays sparkly and shiny).
I turned my jars upside down and then painted. You definitely want to leave enough space between your spray paint can and your jar when spraying to avoid drips. I used about 2 coats of paint on my jars. One they were dry, I took painters tape and taped off where I wanted to put the glitter. I decided to go right below “Ball” but you can do it wherever you want. Use your foam brush and brush on a good coat of Mod Podge Gloss then pour glitter over it. I had paper plates on hand so I poured the glitter onto the jar right over the plates to keep the mess to a minimum. Shake off excess glitter and let dry.
For a little extra shimmer, I brushed some Mod Podge over the mouth of the jar and added some glitter there too. Once the glitter on you jar is dry, gently put a coat of the Mod Podge gloss finish over the glitter. This will keep the glitter from falling off and getting all over your house when using it.
If you notice in the photo above, the jar in the middle looks distressed. Since I had a few paint drips, I decided to experiment and tried sanding the drips. I was able to sand the drips down but along with that, some of the paint came off as well. Since doing this project I’ve seen a few more paint jars that are distressed and sanded so I’m thinking this wasn’t such a bad idea!
