I’ve been in a sewing mood lately. Last week I posted my ruffled dish towels and my little pleated purse and I just couldn’t stop there. I found this shirring tutorial over at Portobello Pixie and could not believe how easy it looked. And it was!!
First let me back up. For those of you who don’t know what shirring is, here’s a picture (image from Craft Gossip). I’m saying that because I had NO IDEA what in the world shirring was until I ran across a post about it (I wish I could remember where so Icould link up to it. They linked up to Portobello Pixie’s tutorial and that’s how I found it). Sigh. Anyhow……here’s the picture.Loving to try something new, I decided to go for it. I picked up my handy dandy supplies from Hobby Lobby: fabric, elastic thread and regular thread. To my delight, I banged out one little dress in about an hour or so. Having 2 very competive daughters, of course I had to make another. I did take some progress pics but my camera battery pooped out on me so I took a few pics with my cell phone and all I got was the finished products.
Not too bad for my first attempt at a dress. I think I’ll make myself a shirt next. 🙂
I’m linking up to my favorite LINKY PARTIES. Make sure you check them out. You never know who you’ll find. 🙂
Don’t forget about New Friend Friday tomorrow!
I probably won’t get around to Readers Rock this weekend. I’m the Matron of Honor tomorrow night in my sister’s wedding and will be traveling. 🙂
