Simple Valentine Wreath

I saw this adorable scrap fabric garland over at My Blessed Life that totally inspired me to create this Valentine’s Day Wreath. Finally a project I could do with supplies I already had on hand.  Woo!   I had this wreath laying around and thought it would be great to re-use. You probably can’t tell by looking at it but it’s one of those super cheap straw ones. All I did was wrap it in strips of painters drop cloth and then covered it in pink tulle. Supplies: Wreath Form Felt Scrap Fabric Bakers Twine Ribbon Glue Gun I  cut out 2 hearts (only one pictured) from felt to use as my base and then cut  red and pink sheets of felt into strips. I rolled the strips into little rosettes and then hot glued them onto the felt hearts. (Totally thought I took a picture of this but I … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day Fabric Wreath

Hey guys! Can't believe we are almost through January, I am getting really excited for Valentines Day! Here is another project that is super easy, not as quick as some in the past, but can easily be done while watching evening t.v. Supplies:Fabric-2.5 yards worked for me with left oversWire Wreath Form-18inchesScissorsDecorative Centerpiece Start off by cutting your fabric into one inch strips. You can go the length of your yard. Then cut your strips into 8inch lengths, so you will have pieces of 1x8. Make A LOT of these in all of your fabrics. Make them into piles so you can create a pattern. I really liked my wreath form because it has two different "levels". Start out with making a knot around the top "level" Slide it all the way to the end, there are little metal markers that help … [Read more...]

Last Minute Easter Craft – Notepad Printable

So, still no baby yet. Anyone tired of hearing me complain? lol With Easter tomorrow I realized that I did not have much time to get a basket together for my girls. Normally I do one for each of them but you should have seen me at CVS yesterday. lol I was pushing a disabled shopping cart (why do I always get the one with the bum wheel that has a mind of it's own?) and was all hunched over b/c my back was hurting and I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could so I decided to do just one big one for the 2 of them to share. Of course, having 2 very competitive little girls, I just bought double of everything. I made it out of CVS pretty quickly but needed to stop at Office Depot to pick up a new wireless adapter and came across these cutie little clipboards for cheap. So I grabbed … [Read more...]

Father’s Day Project

Hey Girl Creative readers! This is Peggie from The Chaos Mommy blog! I'm filling in for Diana while she's gone. Don't worry though, she'll be back tomorrow in time for the weekly Just Something I Whipped Up party.My dad is an avid gardener. Every year for as long as I can remember, he's had a garden. When I was little I remember going out back to pick my mom some tomatoes for dinner. Or watching my dog, aptly named Tomato, run through the vegetable garden, smashing whatever was in his way. When I got older, we moved away from a house with a back yard to an apartment with very little yard. My dad soon discovered the community gardens in town. Every night after work in the summer he would drive across town to the garden to water his veggies. Many times I would meet him there, and once in … [Read more...]

Easy Treat Bags for Any Occasion

Last week for my daughter's Valentine's party I was asked to bring in a treat for the kids to share. When asked for suggestions I was told anything really as long as they were in individual bags. As I went along I came up with this really cheap and easy way to create treat bags and I realized that I could do this for any occasion. All you need is snack size zip lock bags, napkins with the print of your choice, a stapler and funky edge scissors.First I took my napkins and cut them in half.Then I took one of my funky edge scissors and cut each half down a bit. I think I cut maybe an inch or 2 off.I folded the straight edge down for some added support and placed my snack bag on top of it. I folded the funky edge over and stapled down. It was that simple. You can make these for any occasion … [Read more...]

{Valentine’s Wreath}

Ah, I finally found some time to do a little craft in between the Mr. leaving for work this afternoon and going to pick my daughter up from Kindergarten. I de-christmasafied my house over the weekend and normally I don't decorate for any other holidays but since I've been crafting regularly these days I decided to get on the "Decorate Your House for Every Odd Holiday" band wagon. We're really trying hard not to do any unnecessary spending so any future projects are just going to have to be from stuff I find around the house. At least until my birthday in March when I'll get some birthday money and I can re-stock.Okay, enough babbling, lets get to it. I did not take any progress pictures but it was really very simple. Here's the materials list: Metal Hanger Wire Cutters Scrap fabric and/or … [Read more...]

{Girl Creative Picks of the Week}

There are so many talented bloggers out there and I just love stalking their blogs hopping around looking for creative and easy projects that I can do. So this week I'm featuring a few posts that I found that I thought were worth putting the spotlight on. I'm hoping to make this a weekly event over at The Girl Creative. Check these out! Homemade by Jill featured these gift jar variations and easy instructions on how you can do one too. Over at Organize and Decorate Everything, Leanne made pillows out of placemats. Seriously, where do these girls come up with this stuff? I'm jealous! And how about a little something to get you into the Christmas spirit? Nanny Goat (love that name by the way) made this beautiful wreath for her front door out of dollar store Christmas ornaments. She got … [Read more...]
