New Friend Friday

Please Read Before Linking Up
Thank you so much for coming today to link up to New Friend Friday. We’ve had such a GREAT response and we are truly blessed. However, there are a few reminders I want to put out there:

  • Family Friendly Sites only please. The past few weeks we’ve had to delete a site or 2 that was inappropriate. I hate to be the blog police but I really want to maintain the integrity of this blog and Tara and I are in agreement on this.
  • Please link to your home page (example: http://thegirlcreative.blogspot.com). Last week we had over 88 entries that were for parties, crafts, etc. I know this is a common mistake so no worries. :)
  • Remember to leave meaningful comments on the blog before and after you in the list. That’s what this party is about. :) It’s not about gaining the most followers or asking people to follow back. It’s about visiting at least the blog before and after you (and as many as you want after that) and leaving comments and making friends.

Okay, this is hopefully the last time I have to spend time on this. I’d rather just PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

I know I’ve gotten away from this in the past but I’d like to bring our little “Get to Know You” segment back to New Friend Friday. What’s “Get to Know You” you ask? It’s where I pick a topic and tell you something about me and then you tell me something about you. This week let’s talk about dream vacations. I have never been but my dream is to go to Tahiti on vacation.

Yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! That’s what I’m talkin about !! Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Love the picture! I feel like I’m there (even though I’m in Kansas for a few days – not quite the same). My dream vacation may not seem like a big deal, but when we were dating, my husband and I always talked about going to Maine whenever we were having a bad day. If something bad happened at work, we just look at each other and say, “Let’s go to Maine.” It was our way of saying, “It’s going to be okay. We’re in this together.” So I think my dream vacation is to actually go to Maine. ;)

  2. says

Ooooo – fun! I would love love love to go to Tahiti, too, but also to Europe. I’d take either place (heck, I’d take a vacation to just about anywhere at all!!!)

Thanks for your amazing compliment yesterday. I cannot tell you how good it made me feel. You’re awesome!!

    Stef

  3. says

Thanks for hosting!! Hmm, my dream vacation would be to Mexico, but I plan on staying next to a pool the entire time and eating tacos:)

  4. says

I would love to be on Maui right now! Sitting by the beach and enjoying the sun! Happy 4th! Australia would be next on my list!

  5. says

I have a picture in my photo files similar to yours of a beach house in the Virgin Islands, definitely my dream vaca spot. Not sure if I will ever make it to that particular beach house but any beach with nice warm water would do for me, I’m not too picky.

Thanks for hosting NFF, I LOVE all your linky parties!

  6. says

    Greetings from your newest friend.

I would LOVE to go to Greece. I am Greek and I have never been….we’re one step closer to the dream, however, my daughter’s godmother has a house there. If only we could afford plane tickets for 6 people…sigh…

  8. says

Thank you so much for hosting! This is such fun. My dream vacation is somewhere I grew up and I’d love to go back, Crescent City, FL.

  9. says

My current dream vacation would be to take my family, kids and all, on a two-three week long camping and cross country trip. Seeing all the sites. Especially yellowstone, mt. rushmore, grand canyon and other wonderful sites. Riding bikes, making smores, hiking, swimming, boating, sharing stories, picking up fun artifacts and just making it all family fun.

  10. says

oh, i think it’s greece for me. actually a meditteranean cruise is really what i would like to enjoy. my ultimate would be a few months of many european places. sigh.

  11. says

Thanks, once again, for hosting this AWESOME party! My dream vacay would be in at a beach in Australia where there’s swimming, SCUBA diving, and some opera!!

    Have an awesome day!!

New Friend Friday

Psssst! Wanna hear a secret?? I hijacked my husband’s new blog today (he has no idea) and I’d LOVE for you to check it out and leave him some comments so that when he wakes up in the morning, he’s pleasantly surprised (thus earning me some well needed brownie points!). Click HERE to visit. :)

Welcome to New Friend Friday! Each week bloggers from all over blog land add a link to their blog using the Mcklinky below and then hop around from blog to blog leaving lots of comments. It’s a great way to get your blog noticed and to gain some new friends and followers.

A few weeks ago we talked about our most embarrassing moments and boy were they funny! This week the topic is: Favorite Childhood Memory.

I grew up in a development and there was tons of kids so I have soooo many fun memories. I’m not sure if this is my favorite but it’s definitely up there. We were so bad (don’t judge me!). LOL I’m the youngest of 4 girls and when my parents left us home, we used to go crazy. Our absolute favorite thing to do was to make prank phone calls. More specifically, we used to LOVE sending taxi cabs to peoples houses. Well, there was this family down the street who were……..errrrr……..well…….a “target” for this sort of thing. One day we sent 5, yes you read that right, 5, cinco, cinque………..5 taxis to them. And they all showed up at THE SAME TIME! I remember sitting on my front steps with my sisters and laughing as they all lined up in front of their house beeping their horns. LOL So bad I tell ya but by far one of my favorite childhood memories.

What’s yours? Leave it in the comments. :)

  • Add a link to your main blog
  • Visit the blog of the person whose name is above your name in the list and comment on their blog.
  • Visit as many blogs as you can and leave comments telling them you are visiting from New Friend Friday at The Girl Creative.
  • There is no obligation to follow everyone who follows you. Please just follow the blogs that are of interest to you. :)

So, grab a button, post it somewhere on your blog and get ready to make some new friends!

Oh man, it’s hard to pick just ONE favorite…but one of my fondest was picking blackberries every summer. I grew up in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE and there were all these wild blackberry vines everywhere. I would pick and eat, pick and eat…often until I had a tummy ache! My feet and fingers would be stained purple and I’d almost always scratch my legs up on all the thorns, but it was SOOOOO worth it! My Mom would take my loot and make a blackberry cobbler…mmmmmmmmmm!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

  2. says

Oh my goodness..the cab story is hilarious. I can only imagine how hard you and your sisters were laughing when seeing them all arrive. I see you’re still quite the prankster hijacking your hubbys blog…too funny! I am so excited to be joining in the fun this week! Can’t wait to meet some new friends! Thanks for hosting! Hope you have a wonderful weekend =) Stephanie Lynn

  3. says

I’d say my best memory was forcing my Grandpa into a tutu and tiara, in order to sit in a sweltering play house (Georgia summers, sheesh), having a tea party with the tea being lukewarm water from a hose.

Thanks for hosting such a great party!

  4. says

LOL! My friend and I used to prank call people when we were in middle school. We thought we were so cool! We never did anything as great as send taxis to people’s houses, though. That’s awesome!

I have so many great childhood memories, but for some reason, Halloween just popped into my mind. My brother and I would go trick or treating and then come home and trade candy. I will never forget those nights.

Thanks for hosting NFF! I’m off to check out your husband’s blog now…

  5. says

Looking forward to another New Friend Friday! One of my favorite memories was rollerskating in our driveway while listening to ABBA and Buddy Holly on my dad’s 8-track. Childhood can bring such simple joy!

  6. says

I don’t know that I have a favorite memory. I have a lot of good ones so it’s hard to pick just one. I would have to guess one of my fondest is when my mom was working evenings and Dad was in charge of dinner. My sisters and I were sitting around the table while Dad was bringing all the food to the table, and he sets down our veggie. Well, I look at it and I say…this doesn’t look like broccoli. My younger sister, Dana, smells it and says it doesn’t smell like broccoli, and then, unfortunately, Nicole, Dana’s twin, has the pleasure of tasting it. It did not taste like broccoli, either. Dad had mistakenly microwaved us up some celery. A whole stalk of it. We have mercilessly ribbed (ha ha) him about this since then (it’s been almost 20 years now). Shortly after this incident, we began rotating dinner duty between the kids and Dad. :)

  7. says

The cab story: hilarious!! One of my fav memories wasn’t as “risky” as yours but it was fun. I used to dress up like a cheerleader like my older sister (when she was in HS). She would let me have her pom-poms and we would do different moves together. It was cute :D

  8. says

Just found out about your blog a few days ago from someone else.

I did a post but did not realize it is a themed day, so will join in again another day.

Do already have a link to yours on my post, so will leave it there, and just go visit some new people.

    blessings

  9. says

I have tons of stories. Stories of Band Camp, girl scouts, neighbors, a neighborhood house blowing up thanks to the mafia. My favorite would be having a neighbor babysitting my sister and I. We REALLY disliked being there. We could see our house from theirs and we KNEW no parent was due home anytime soon. My sister called our house and pretended to be talking to my mother. The neighbor fell for it and my sister and I walked home. Unfortunately mom came home on her lunch break and heard us upstairs. *sigh* She walked us back to our neighbors’ house and we had to wait until DAD got home before we could go home. *ugh*
As I recall that was the LAST time said neighbor ‘babysat’ us!

  10. says

My goodness, this made me think for a while! I’m grateful to have a lot of memories to choose from. That being said, it was hard to pick just one!

My favorite childhood memory was spednging a whole week each summer at my grandparents. We got to do some of the most exciting things. My Grandma was big into crafts and so I got to help out every now and then. Plus we always got to enjoy malted milkshakes and homemade popcorn on my last night before I went back home. :)

Hope you have a great Friday!

  11. says

The first thing that popped into my mind was hanging out at the baseball field..oh the junk food..donuts for breakfast, hamburgers and fries for lunch, jolly ranchers in between…but mostly hanging out with all the kids running free…playing ball, watching our dads play ball, and play at the park. FUN!

  12. says

So funny that childhood memories is the topic…I’m working at redoing my baby book and my mom has been emailing me pics that I am missing…just got one of my from my first Christmas (obviously, at 5 months I don’t remember it) but I have never seen the 2 pics of me and my dad together…LOVE IT!

  13. says

When I was @ 6yrs old, my best friend lived just down the street. We played at her house every day, and especially in her massive Pecan tree that was in the front yard. The tree was always our pirate ship and we craftily found several buckets and rope. We hung the buckets from large branches and used them to hoist her cats up into the tree with us. Up and down they went. We were rescuing them from sharks, after all! It amazes me now that those sweet cats were so compliant and trusting. I can’t imagine what people thought as they drove by her house and watched us do this, day after day!
Love your cab story…naughty little kids!

  14. says

all the kids from the neighborhood would gather at the vacant lot to play ball. there was a big tree that was home base. the tree is gone, and there are houses in that lot now, but the memories will always be there.

  15. says

I think mine is the time I sat on some eggs at my aunt’s house (she had chickens) hoping to make them hatch. Let’s just say it didn’t work out!

  16. says

Thanks so much for hosting! My favorite childhood memory is of Christmas when I was four. I received a huge teddy bear from my sweet daddy that I had been coveting for about a year. It was such a fun surprise: we went out for dinner that night at a fancy-schmancy restaurant, and they had the bear sitting in my seat with a big bow around his neck. :)

  17. says

Playing church in the bedroom and you were dancing and bounced backwards and banged your back into the dresser.

And making the tape….”Emmaaaannnuel. Emaaaaannnnuel. Wonderful, Counselor…Fttttttt.”

    Blasphemous children!

  18. says

One of my favorite group of memories (is that possible?) is remembering how my dad read stories. He has a great voice and always did character voices. He also loved to sing (on key or not) and we would sing funny old folk songs in the car on trips we’d take as a family. We used to spend a lot of time in the car because apparently gas used to be cheap and driving places was a cheap way to entertain a family of five. Who woulda thunk?

    Anna

  19. says

I found your blog from Crazy Daisy’s “blogging blunder” so it was probably good that she made the blunder! I now follow both your and your husbands blog! I love New Friend Friday, I’m going to put your button on the side of my blog, thanks!

  20. says

One of my favorite memories of my childhood is one that I used to DESPISE! My parents were planning to build their dream home, so for years (really -like…five!) my mother would cart my sister and I around in the car looking at houses after school! It’s one of my favorite memories now because my mother and I would talk about the things we liked and didn’t, and now that I’m a grown up -I ride in the car and think of her, AND of what I like about the houses I’m seeing! LOL. My DH says I’m turning into her…. We’ll see!!

    Happy Friday!!!
    ~Briana

  21. says

Thanks for your comment on my blog, I was in Long Island city and we visited all of the sights in New York, New York. It was so fun and my first trip there. y daughter lives in Hershey PA and she was with me and now I am at her home visiting her. As far as one of my favorite childhood memories, I think it would be one of helping my grandfather with trailing sheep. I know that sounds strange but he owned a lot of sheep and when it was time to move them to the summer range to the winter range, he would let us grandkids come a long and experience what it was like to be on a horse and trail the sheep.

  22. says

lol. I used to love doing prank calls.

My fave childhood memory was going to the “center of the world monument” . I’m from Ecuador and it’s 0 degrees lat. & long. & I remember it was amazing. It’s this huge sphere and they have stores, food courts. I went with my family and was about 8. =)

  23. says

The post I put on for today was done even before you asked your question…and was just so fitting! I remember a lot about like on the school yard when I was a kid. It may not all have been fun, but I remember more good than bad.
    amanda @ myramblings.ca

  24. says

LOL….I am not sure I could even begin to top that one. I have alot of great memories….my earliest was when I was 2 we lived acorss the street(dead end) from my grand parents. I would put my boots and jacket on, open the door and head to grandmas for hot chocolate and cinnamon toast. I can remember my dad coming after me, I made it to grandmas door before dad could get me and was saved, cause you know grandma told him to leave me alone.

  25. says

You crack me up! Just before my senior year in high school my parents moved us from subdivision suburbia in California to 60 acres in Oregon to build a house and a business. I was devastated! Talk about culture shock! BUT, me and my sisters have such fond memories of our country life we compiled them in a handmade book for this last Christmas. I married the neighbor’s son and have lived in Oregon ever since.

I am now a follower and will visit as many “friends” as possible over the weekend!

    Blessings,
    Cheryl

What a great idea! I am trying to post on WhimsiKel’s (#120, she’s above me) and I can’t post. I hope she doesn’t think I’m ignoring her, but I think she’s having some technical difficulties and I can’t figure out how to contact her. Please help if you can!

What if I want to post the button in the actual post and not just on my blog? I can’t seem to figure that out. Sorry for so many annoying questions!

Ocean, no worries about all the questions. :) When you are writing your post, click on the “edit html” tab (you will automatically be on the “compose” tab when you start a new post) and paste the button code in there. When you go back to “compose” you’ll see the image. :)
