I was so excited when I was contacted by Silhouette to try out their Limited Edition 2012 Advent Calendar. It came in the mail when my daughter was in the hospital so I didn’t get around to taking it out and putting it all together until just yesterday. Better late than never, right?
Included in the kit is the frame (totally versatile – can’t wait to use it for other things throughout the year), the metal clips and a download card for a bunch of neat little shapes that you can use to help customize it.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out all of the shapes. I found adorable chevron mittens in the Silhouette online store that I couldn’t resist. I tried to pick out about 5 different designs and just rotated them throughout the frame.
I used my Cameo to cut out the red scalloped circles that each number is on and just typed out the numbers 1-25 on my computer and cut them out with a circle punch. The Silhouette designer edition software has a feature where you can actually print something out to your printer and then feed it into your machine and it will cut it out for you. I was tight for time and my toddler was loose around the house so I just did what was easiest (and the most familiar) for me and that was just the old fashioned paper punch way. lol
For the activities I again just typed out a bunch of quick little things and printed them out on a full sheet label paper. Used my circle punch again and stuck them right onto the back of each day. Next year I’m sure I will have to plan new events and activities according to our schedule so I just plan on creating new labels and sticking them right over this years. I’m all about simple!
Each year Silhouette comes out with a new limited edition advent calendar so if you really love this one, don’t wait to grab one. Even if you don’t have time to use it this year, you can do so much with the frame alone….and there’s always next year.
